Samuel Otenyo’s Profile

Profile: Mr. Samuel Otenyo is the CPDA Technical Director and Assistant to the Executive Director. He has over 22 years’ work experience in financial accounting with a state corporation (Coffee Board of Kenya) in a highly competitive accounting environment , 5 years as Secretary General (SG) for a national Civil Society Organization (National Network of Retrenched Workers for Social & Economic Justice-Kenya); 10 years with GHGPAS as the Founder Director and CEO, transferring climate change skills to communities through education and advisory services; and increasing climate change literacy with a focus on climate change mitigation projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developing nations. He is the lead for climate change and greenhouse gas mitigation projects and a trainer at the entity level. He is a Trained GHG Accountant Internationally and a financial Accountant. He established Africa GHG Network Group under the GHGMI, USA to promote Climate Change knowledge in Africa in 2009.

He has trained 3000 landowners and 200 women in agriculture as climate change champions in Nyamira County. He was globally nominated by the World Bank to represent the private sector at the Stakeholders Forum—Cape Town, South Africa under the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) program in 2011. He is a member of EROG, ALLIED and an active EHRD member in Kenya. He is the Co-Author and 1st Kenyan to Publish the Climate Change Science Book on Greenhouse Gas sequestration Technical Chapters under the Springer International.

He holds Certificates of Climate Change Mitigation in Developing Nations (Honors) from the University of Cape Town, Cities Climate Change Leadership Certificates from the World Bank Institute in Washington, DC, USA, and Certificates in Greenhouse Gas Accounting (GHG) from the prestigious Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI, USA) and is a KCA University-trained financial accountant (CPA). He is currently developing the OTCARBON Solution System to enhance greenhouse gas tracking, quantification, and reporting for Kiswahili-speaking East African countries at the entity level.
