Alice Kirambi’s Profile
MS Alice Kirambi is a community development expert who has devoted her life to developing and empowering women’s agendas. Alice is a passionate community leader, development practitioner, and advocate for women’s empowerment in Kenya. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Christian Partners Development Agency (CPDA)—a national NGO committed to advancing community-driven development, social justice, and sustainable livelihoods.
With over two decades of experience in leadership, development coordination, and organizational management, Alice has dedicated her life to empowering women, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for grassroots economic growth.
After completing her studies at a secretarial college, Alice began her professional journey with the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), an employment bureau that opened the door to her lifelong career in service and leadership.
In 1993, driven by her passion for social change, Alice founded the Christian Partners Development Agency (CPDA). Under her leadership, the agency has implemented impactful programs across Kenya—promoting economic resilience and social inclusion.

From 2006 to 2014, Alice served as the Secretary General of the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO)—Kenya’s largest women’s movement dedicated to promoting gender equality, social justice, and women’s rights. Her leadership strengthened the organization’s grassroots networks and amplified the voices of rural women across the country.
Alice was also the first president of the Soroptimist International Union of Kenya, a global volunteer movement for women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.
Through this platform, she mobilized support for education, leadership, and mentorship programs targeting young women from marginalized backgrounds. Some of her notable projects include the “Sponsor a Sister to Beijing” campaign, which enabled women from Western Kenya to attend the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women. Establishing Neighborhood Assemblies—local “village parliaments” that encourage civic participation and dialogue on poverty reduction, governance, and development.
She has won many international and local accolades and is very passionate about gender equity. Since 1993, she has successfully implemented many projects worth over 1.2B, equivalent to USD 9,600,000, in Kenya towards the community projects funded by many international development partners, who include Oxfam Novib, the European Union, USAID, UN Women, UNODC, Uraia, and Girl Generation, among many partners.
She is a board member of UN-supported EROG, LEAD and a member of ALLIED, where she strongly articulates land and environmental rights defender issues.
Legacy and Inspiration: Alice’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and impact. From humble beginnings to national influence, she stands as a symbol of hope and empowerment for women across Africa.
She is a holder of International Diploma in Community Development and advocacy in human rights.
